This week The Troubadour Ballads album is available as a download. Starting on CD Baby, http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/jonlawrence2 however it will also be available on Amazon and iTunes within the next month. The album, which I feel includes some of my best lyrics, has been re-mastered at Cliff Corner Studios.
This weekend I will be in Berlin filming part of a documentary with Justin Temple a renowned film-maker from London who has just finished two excellent films with national treasure and bafta-nominated documentary director Rex Bloomstein. The subject of the film, which goes under the working title The Silent Musicians, is that of musician and singer songwriters who are not able to express themselves politically, socially or religiously without freedom for fear of reprisal. While in Berlin I will meet up with my old friend Soname Yangchen www.soname.com. The film, funding permitting will take us to some very interesting places around the world.
Sometime in April I will also release my new album, If We Run and Run… The album is primarily an acoustic album but does also include some band recordings to. The album covers friendship, family and how to stick two fingers up to your boss. More news on this will follow soon.
In a couple of weeks I will spend a little time recording in the studio with my good friends Stef Judd and Sandy Mears. We will be recordings a little EP – completely live. Really looking forward to it.
At present I am also writing quite a lot. I am writing a book called A Word From Stupid which I hope to have available later this year. It is a dark but often humorous look at my difficulties with depression. It has been rather cathartic writing the book, but also rather demanding emotionally. My good friend Chris Skinner, who has designed the covers for The In-between Worlds, Albatross Bay and The Girl in the Spotlight, is designing the cover.
So there we have it busy, busy, busy….
Take care
Jon
